As rehearsals get underway for Eurovision 2024, we are also getting news about the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Earlier this year it was announced the contest would be held in Spain. It was announced several cities in Spain would bid to host the contest. Barcelona have however announced they will be withdrawing their bid to host the competition in late 2024.
Why have Barcelona withdrew their Junior Eurovision 2024 bid
The reason for withdrawal is due to the lack of suitable venues to host the contest. In comments to Spanish outlet RAC1, the following was said
“Doncs bé, fonts municipals han confirmat a RAC1 que finalment l’Ajuntament ha desistit en l’intent per ser la seu del festival davant la falta d’equipaments disponibles. Espais com el Palau Sant Jordi o el mateix Sant Jordi Club, els únics capaços de celebrar un esdeveniment d’aquestes característiques, estarien reservats les dates que necessita l’organització, al mes de novembre”
“Now, municipal sources have confirmed to RAC1 that the City Council has finally given up on the attempt to host the festival due to the lack of available equipment. Spaces with the Palau Sant Jordi or the mateix Sant Jordi Club, the only ones capable of celebrating an event of these characteristics, will be reserved the dates needed by the organization, in the month of November”

About Junior Eurovision 2024
While France won its second-straight victory at Junior Eurovision 2023, Spain will host the 2024 contest. Four cities are in contention to host; Valencia, Malaga and Granada. As of the time of writing, the contest dates and full list of participating countries are unconfirmed.

Can you please ask the EBU to make some changes in the format for the Nordic countries to participate again? Adult songwriters should do no more than 50% of the work. Otherwise, children won’t like the specially-made songs they’re assigned.
