As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next entry we will be reacting to is Armenia, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “Jako” by LADANIVA.

Our thoughts on “Jako”

In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three other members will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “Jako”

What did the other members of the team think of “Jako”?

Daniel: Okay I love this. Will it be competitive in the contest? Probably not. Am I having a great time every listen? You bet. Great to have a sound like this in the contest, especially with a good message behind it.

Jazzi :I love how traditional and fun this seems. While the song itself is a little lowkey compared to other uptempo songs we have there’s something about this that still stands out. I have so much fun watching the music video to this and seeing them going through the streets of Armenia. I do understand how others may find this a little repetitive but I enjoy it and hope to see it in the Eurovision Final.

Armenia’s Eurovision Journey

In 2006, Armenia made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, where André represented the nation with his entry “Without Your Love”, placing 8th overall. Since their debut, Armenia has participated 15 times, 12 of which saw them make the Grand Final. Their best result was both in 2008 and 2014, achieving 4th place with Sirusho and “Qélé Qélé” and Aram MP3 with “Not Alone”.

Armenia took part in the 2023 edition of the Contest with Brunette and her song “Future Lover”. She qualified from the second semi-final of the Contest in Liverpool, making it to the final on Saturday. The final result saw Armenia finish in 14th place with 122 points. The juries gave Brunette 69 points, whilst the televoters awarded her 53 points.
