As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next Eurovision 2024 entry we will be reacting to is Latvia, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “Hollow” by Dons.
Our thoughts on “Hollow”
In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three members of the team will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “Hollow”
What did the other members of the team think of “Hollow”?
Jazzi: I love this I feel as a ballad it builds really nicely and vocally Dons is more perfect. If there were juries in the semis I would be pretty sure this was qualifying however as there isn’t I am a little on the fence as to whether this will connect as much as other songs. Although Dons is an amazing engaging performer, you can feel his emotion when he sings so hopefully this touches a nerve with Europe and brings Latvia to their first final since 2016, as it deserves to be there.
Daniel: I’ve not even finished listening to the song. I’ve already forgotten it. There’s really nothing to it for me, Dons can sing well but that doesn’t truly matter if it doesn’t stay in my head. The name “Hollow” is apt because my disappointment is akin to finding out my childhood Easter eggs were as such.

Latvia’s Eurovision Journey
Latvia made their Eurovision debut in 2000, finishing 3rd with “My Star” by Brainstorm. They have performed at every contest since and managed to win in 2002. Marie N sang “I Wanna,” scoring 176 points and bringing Eurovision to Riga in the process. Latvia also managed to finish in the top 10 two more times, in 2005 and 2015.
Latvia’s most recent entry on the Eurovision stage was Sudden Lights, who performed “Aijā”. The song failed to qualify from the semi-final, finishing 11th with 34 points from the televote.
