As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next Eurovision 2024 entry we will be reacting to is Lithuania, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “Luktelk” by Silvester Belt.

Our thoughts on “Luktelk”

In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst three members of the team will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “Luktelk”

What did the other members of the team think of “Luktelk”?

Georgia: I think this is just a really cool entry. A very catchy song, Silvester is a great performer and its staging is minimal but very effective. In an interview, Silvester mentioned that he and his team specifically made the song easy to learn with lyrics that have similarities/nuances to words from other languages, which I think will help its chances in Malmö. Lithuanian may not be as widely of spoken language as some of the others we see at Eurovision but I bet all of Europe will be dancing along to Luktelk this May.

Jazzi: I really enjoy this in the studio, however live with an audience clapping along is where this song is really elevated. Silverster himself is a captivating performer who knows how to work the crowd and camera angles. This will be played over and over again at Euroclub and we will go crazy for it each and every time. This is down to get Lithuania a very good result in the contest and honestly they deserve it. Since Covid they haven’t missed and it’s gone really under the radar.

Lithuania’s Eurovision Journey

The Baltic nation made its debut at the Eurovision Song contest in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas represented them with the song “Lopšinė mylimai”, which placed 25th. Since then, Lithuania has participated 21 times and made the Grand Final 14 times. LT United gave Lithuania their best ever Eurovision result back in 2006, where the country placed 6th.

In 2023, Monika Linkytė represented Lithuania, participating with the song “Stay”. Performing in the second semi-final, Monika qualified for the final in fourth place. In the Grand Final, Lithuania finished in 11th place overall, with 127 points – 81 points came from the juries, with another 46 points from the televote.
