As we now have the songs competing for this year’s competition in Malmö, the team at That Eurovision Site will be reacting to the entries that will be participating at Eurovision 2024. The next entry we will be reacting to is Austia, who will be competing in this year’s competition with “We Will Rave” by Kaleen.
Our thoughts on “We Will Rave”
In this series, we will be providing our opinions in two methods. One of our team members will be reacting on video, which you can see below, whilst up to three other members will be giving their written opinion on the entry. Tim will be on the main seat and will be giving his reaction to “We Will Rave”
What did the other members of the team think of “We Will Rave”?
Kittens: This should in theory be right up my street, but personally I’m struggling with it. It keeps slipping lower and lower down my list, simply because it feels kind of throwaway. The sound is somewhat nostalgic, but I feel like it can’t really stand on its own purely through that nostalgia. The video in particular seems very middle of the road – I need this to be more campy on stage and less straight-laced, and I just don’t really think it’s going to deliver that unfortunately. Enjoyable, but nothing special, and this year with lots of challengers in the dance banger arena I feel we have stronger offerings in the lineup.
Jazzi: I really enjoy this when I listen to it, however I do have some worries that once it gets to Eurovision it could be a little messy. I really hope not and I hope they do a good job staging this. I just don’t know if it’s the easiest song to stage. I do think this would be a really great opener to Semi-Two. This will get people up and dancing in May and the song will be something that will bring a lot of joy to people.

Austria’s Eurovision Journey
In 1957, Austria made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, where Bob Martin represented the landlocked nation with the song “Wohin, kleines Pony?”. At the close of voting, it managed to place 10th overall. Since their debut, Austria has participated 55 times (being in the final 48 times), and have won the competition on two occasions in 1966 and 2014.
For 2023, Teya and Salena were internally selected to represent Austria with their song “Who the Hell is Edgar?”. In Liverpool, the duo qualified for the final, where they went on to finish in 15th place with 120 points. Of these, 16 points came from the televote and another 104 came from the juries.
