Eurovision in Malmö is now just over a month away. In the lead-up to the start of rehearsals, we will get to know a bit more about this year’s artists, their discography, and their Eurovision 2024 journey so far. Next up, we will preview Ireland’s 2024 representative Bambie Thug.
Bambie Thug’s Eurovision Journey So Far…
Bambie Thug was selected to represent Ireland with “Doomsday Blue” after winning national final “Eurosong 2024” during The Late Late Show. Late last month it was determined that Bambie Thug will perform fourth in the first Eurovision Semi-Final in Malmö on May 7th.
Bambie Thug has been confirmed to be taking part in the London Eurovision Party on April 6th, as well as Eurovision in Concert on April 13th. Prior to writing Silvester also took part in Pre-Party ES24 in Madrid on March 30th.

Who is Bambie Thug?
Bambie Thug, aka Bambie Ray Robinson, is an artist from Cork in Ireland. Bambie kickstarted their career in 2020, Bambie has always been one to experiment with genres when it comes to their music. One way they like to describe their music is as “Ouija pop”. Another way Bambie’s music can be described is as “hyper punk”. Since 2020 Bambie has also resided in East London in the United Kingdom.
Since 2020 Bambie Thug has released three EP’s entitled Psilocyber, High Romancy and Cathexis. Five of the singles that Bambie has released were not included on any of their EPs. In Bambie’s music you will see their reluctance to stay fixed on one genre, they say that is the inspiration and motivation to keep exploring themselves as an artist.
“Doomsday Blue” their Eurovision song was written by Bambie themselves alongside Olivia Casey Brooking, Sam Matlock and Tyler Ryder. Tyler Ryder also produced the entry.
Ireland’s Eurovision Journey
In 1965, Ireland made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest with Butch Moore and the song “Walking the Streets in the Rain”, which managed to place 6th. Since their debut, Ireland has participated 56 times (making the Grand Final 45 times), and has won the competition seven times, which is currently tied for the record of most wins.
Ireland’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Wild Youth, with their song “We Are One”. They placed 12th in the semi-final, receiving 10 points from the televote, missing out on the Grand Final.
