Today rehearsals for Junior Eurovision 2024 continue in Madrid. Countries rehearsing on Day 2 include France, Germany, Ireland, Malta, The Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and San Marino. The first country to rehearse today is Ireland’s Enya Cox Dempsey.
What did we learn about Enya’s staging?

We see Enya Cox Dempsey joined by four backing dancers, with the performance being accompanied by bright colors, both in the LED screen and in the lights used, as well as the outfits worn by Enya and her backing dancers.

Who is Enya Cox Dempsey?
Enya Cox Dempsey grew up surrounded by extended family in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny. Her musical icons include Lana Del Rey, Queen, the Deftones, Metallica, and Billy Idol; she loves classic rock, which she was introduced to by her uncle, and aspires to become a professional pop singer… after winning Junior Eurovision for Ireland, of course.
Enya Cox Dempsey won Junior Eurovision Éire 2024 on 13th October; her music video for “Le Chéile” (“Together”) was released a few days later.
Ireland’s Junior Eurovision Journey
Ireland first participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. Débuting alongside Australia, Ireland was represented by Aimee Banks singing ” Réalta na Mara”. At the close of voting, Ireland finished in 12th place – receiving 36 points. Ireland has since participated a further eight times. Their best placement came in 2022, when Sophie Lennon finished in fourth place with her song “Solas”.
In 2023, Jessica McKean represented Ireland in Nice with her song “Aisling”. Ireland’s most recent participation, she finished 16th in a field of 16, earning 42 points. Of these, 8 came from professional juries, whilst the remaining 34 were from the online vote.
