Festivali i Këngës begins this week, and RTSH has revealed that France’s 2024 entrant Slimane will make a guest appearance at Thursday’s show.

Slimane to perform at FiK

Slimane will appear on the first night of Albania’s national selection, traditionally the kick-off of national final season for the Eurovision world. Slimane represented France at Eurovision 2024 with the song “Mon Amour”, which became a fast favorite and ultimately placed fourth in the Grand Final. Prior to Eurovision, his career has spanned eight years and has seen him tour internationally, win awards, and sell over two million albums.

He is expected to perform “Mon Amour”, but RTSH also hints that he has a “surprise” for the Albanian public planned. What could that be?

Albania’s Eurovision Journey

In 2004, Albania made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest with Anjeza Shahini with “Image of You”, which placed 7th in the final. Since their debut, Albania has participated 20 times, and made the final 10 times. They achieved their best result in 2012, where Rona Nishliu placed 5th with “Suus”.

Besa represented Albania in 2024 with the song “Titan”. “Titan” performed in the second semi-final, where it ultimately placed fifteenth out of sixteen, receiving 14 points from the televote.

What could Slimane’s surprise be? Will you be watching FiK this week? As always, please let us know what you think by getting involved in the comments below.
