French media is resurfacing previous reports that the French act for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest will be singer-songwriter Louane.
Louane previously rumoured for Basel
Le Parisien is reporting that the former The Voice singer is the choice for France Télévisions. An announcement of Louane as the French act would be consistent with previous reports that France would be announcing its act in December of January. The choice of Louane as the representative would come after the singer reported that she would not be the French representative for Eurovision 2025, back in October. She stated at the time:
Contrary to rumors, I will not be doing Eurovision. It flatters me that people are thinking of me, especially since I always watched it with my mother
At time of writing there has been no word from France Télévisions confirming or denying that Louane is France’s act.
France’s Eurovision Journey
France is a powerhouse in Eurovision, debuting in the first Contest in 1956. Their first entries finished in second place, but no scores were ever published. Since then, France has gone on to win the Contest five times. The most recent win came in 1977, with Marie Myriam’s “L’oiseau et l’enfant”, scoring 136 points.France has seen a rebirth in results following a change in direction in 2016. Amir finished in 6th position for France with “J’ai cherché”, followed by 12th, 13th and 16th places respectively.
For 2024, France continued to choose internally, they chose Slimane with his song “Mon amour”. At the close of voting in Malmö, France finished in 4th place, earning 445 points. Of these, 218 points were given by the juries, whilst the televote allocated an extra 227 points to France.
