🇸🇪 That Eurovision Preview: Who are KAJ?

Eurovision in Basel is just over a month away. In the lead-up to the start of rehearsals, we will get to know a bit more about this year’s artists, their discography, and their Eurovision 2025 journey so far. Up next, we will preview Sweden’s KAJ.

KAJ’s Eurovision Journey So Far

Sweden selected its Eurovision 2025 representative via its selection Melodifestivalen. KAJ managed to directly make it to the final, where they managed to win the competition after scoring the most votes from the International Jury and Public Vote combined. KAJ will be performing sixth in the first semi-final on May 13.

Sweden will be participating at Eurovision 2025 with “Bara Bada Bastu”, which they co-wrote alongside Anderz Wrethov, Kristoffer Strandberg, and Robert Skowronski.

Who are KAJ?

Kevin Holmström, Axel Åhman, and Jakob Norrgård make up the Finno-Swedish trio KAJ. The group describes themselves as a comedy trio, with their distinctive feature being that their songs are in the Vörå dialect; a combination of Swedish and Finnish. KAJ have a longstanding career having formed back in 2009. In the years since they have released 7 albums.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).

In 2024, Sweden were represented on home soil by Marcus and Martinus. As the host entry, their song “Unforgettable” did not need to compete in the semi-finals. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 174 points. 125 points were received by the juries, while the twins received 49 points by televoters.
