Eurovision in Basel is just over a month away. In the lead-up to the start of rehearsals, we will get to know a bit more about this year’s artists, their discography, and their Eurovision 2025 journey so far. Up next, we will preview Italy’s Lucio Corsi.
Lucio Corsi’s Eurovision Journey So Far
In line with previous years, Lucio Corsi participated in Sanremo 2025. After taking his time to decide on participation, the winner of the festival, Olly decided not to participate in Eurovision 2025, with Lucio Corsi, the runner-up of the festival being selected to represent Italy in Basel. As a member of the Big Five, Italy qualifies directly to the final, but will perform in the semi-final, in between Belgium and Azerbaijan.
Italy will participate in Eurovision 2025 with “Volevo Essere Un Duro” which was written by Lucio Corsi and Tommaso Ottomano.

Who is Lucio Corsi?
Lucio Corsi is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who hails from Maremma. He began his musical journey at a young age when he watched ‘The Blues Brothers’ on television. From performing gigs in his hometown, Lucio moved to Milan after graduating to pursue his music career.
Since then, Lucio has released two EPs, and four studio albums (the recent one being in March 2025), reaching number one in the Italian Album charts.
Italy’s Eurovision Journey
Italy has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest since the very beginning and have always been considered a powerhouse in the contest. The country has won the contest on three occasions in 1964, 1990 and 2021. Italy withdrew after 1997, returning again in 2011 with Raphael Gualazzi who sang ‘Madness Of Love’. Raphael placed second in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest after scoring 189 points.
Italy’s most recent entry in 2024 was “La Noia” by Angelina Mango. At the close of voting, Italy scored a total of 268 points in the Eurovision 2024 Grand Final, placing 7th. Of these, 164 points came from the juries, whilst the remaining 104 points came from the televote.
