If you read this on the day of publication, Happy Eurovision New Year’s Eve! That’s right, this is the last batch of songs ineligible for the upcoming bonanza in Vienna due to coming out to early. Don’t fret, that hasn’t stopped everyone from stars of Eurovisions past to national final favourites from releasing a whole host of excellent songs. Once again I handpicked the best and biggest releases of the month for your ears to enjoy. This month’s round-up includes: a host of collabs, new music by an old favourite, and odd cover versions!

If you want to jump straight to a specific section, here’s a list of pages, each filled to the brim with new music:

The 2025 entries

Zoë Më – “Durch die Nacht”

2025 host entry and one of my personal faves this year, Zoë Më, is singing “Durch die Nacht” (Through the night). The German-titled track features lyrics in German and French, and is much more energetic than you might have expected from the singer-songwriter. Surprisingly poppy and musically more in conversation with the (synth) pop of your Froukje’s and Frida Gold’s and what have yous instead of chanson like the rest of her recent releases. Really fun!

Tommy Cash – “Ok”

Did you miss the era of buying ringtones for your phone? And do you like the nonsensical Italian that Tommy Cash has basically made his brand? Then “Ok” is the song for you! While this still isn’t my thing, there is a certain something about this song that I can appreciate. Perhaps I am just nostalgic for that ringtone era?

Gabry Ponte, Steve Aoki – “Stewpid”

This is not the first time that these two names work together, having previously made a remix of… the Pirates of the Caribbean theme? Anyway, “Stewpid” sees Gabry Ponte and Steve Aoki work together to create an upbeat track combining the expected electronic dance elements with dance-pop vocals, all in a package designed to call you to the dancefloor and just let loose.

Mike Demero – “Losing Myself (feat. EMMY)”, Lost Gallery, EMMY – “Everytime We Touch”

The ever-busy EMMY enters the round-up with two songs this month. “Losing Myself” is a feature on a new song by Canadian Mike Demero, who has previously worked with the likes of Aloe Blacc and Sam Feldt. It’s a fairly vibey song that, I have to admit, I am bobbing my head along to as I write this.

“Everytime We Touch” is a cover of the Cascada song by Norwegian DJ/producer Lost Gallery. It is a frankly baffling EDM-inspired ballad version of the original. It needs to be heard to be believed, and my main question remains: why? That being said, a part of me is pretty impressed by the sheer thought of this, and I do have a soft spot for ballads from otherwise non-ballad genres.
