Gert Kark, currently TV Project Manager at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), has been confirmed as the newest member of the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group.
What the Reference Group Does
The Reference Group is essentially Eurovision’s steering body. Its responsibilities include:
- Approving future format changes and development of the contest
- Overseeing financial strategy and support for ESC
- Ensuring the host broadcaster adheres to standards and operational requirements
- Upholding and evolving the Eurovision brand globally
Members of the Eurovision Reference Group
The Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group is now formed of:
- Anna Maria Bordas (RTVE) – Chairperson
- Ebba Adielsson (SVT) – Eurovision 2024 Host Broadcaster
- Moritz Stadler (SRG SSR) – Eurovision 2025 Host Broadcaster
- Michael Krön (ORF) – Eurovision 2026 Host Broadcaster
- Carla Bugalho (RTP)
- Molly Plank (DR)
- Claudia van der Pas (AVROTROS)
- Tomislav Å tengl (HRT)
- David Tserunyan (AMPTV)
- Gert Kark (EBU)
He replaces Martin Österdahl, who stepped down as Eurovision’s Executive Supervisor earlier this year. Kark has been with the EBU since at least 2017 and has long been involved with Junior Eurovision’s organisation.
