Gonzalo Pinillos will sing “Érase una vez (Once Upon A Time)” in Tbilisi for Spain at Junior Eurovision 2025.

A message for everyone

Speaking at the press conference for his entry, when asked about his song, Pinillos stated :

I’m fully prepared to represent Spain at Junior Eurovision. My song is amazing and has a beautiful message about promoting culture and reading. It’s a message for all ages and languages.

“Érase una vez” represents Pinillos’ personal universe and hobbies. Indeed, the 14-year-old from Madrid finds inspiration through books and music.

The song combines Spanish with English and French. Moreover, the latter was composed by Luis Ramiro, Alejandro Martínez, David Parejo, and Gonzalo Pinillos. The first four names are no strangers to the contest after signing Sandra Valero with ‘Loviu’ and Chloe DelaRosa with ‘Como la Lola’.

More details about staging revealed

Speaking about how RTVE will combine the message of the song and staging, the director of RTVE, Sergio Calderon, stated :

We’re going to bring musical theatre to Tbilisi, something we haven’t done before.

Furthermore, Spain’s stage proposal in Tbilisi will be directed by Juan Sebastián, who worked with Nebulossa project for Eurovision 2024. The choreography will be by Mónica Peña, who was behind Melody’s proposal for Eurovision 2025. As with Sandra Valero, Verónica Ferreiro will repeat as the Spanish artist’s vocal coach. Finally, Raúl Amor, stylist and costume designer for RTVE, will be in charge of the wardrobe.

Finally, on stage, Pinillos’ will be accompanied by two dancers, Daniela Valladolid , 12, and Alex Garrido , 13

Spain’s Junior Eurovision History

Spain has taken part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest a total of 9 times, with their first participation coming in the first edition of the Contest in 2003. In the initial Contest, Spain was represented by Sergio singing “Desde el cielo”. At the close of voting Spain finished in second place, earning 125 points. Spain would go on to win the next edition of the show with María Isabel’s “Antes Muerte Que Sencilla”. The country finished with 171 points.

Spain hosted the 2024 contest after 2023 winner France turned down hosting rights. Their hometown girl was Chloe DelaRosa, who sang “Como La Lola”. Chloe received 80 points from the jury and 64 from the online vote. Thus, combining for a total score of 144 points and sixth place.
