While Swedish broadcaster SVT finalizes the list of artists participating in their Eurovision 2026 selection, Melodifestivalen, rumors regarding who will be participating in the 66th edition of the competition continue to be reported. This time, Vilhelm Buchaus, Cimberly and Erika Jonsson are the latest names to be attached for next year’s competition, as reported by Aftonbladet.
Back for a second attempt
First up in the round-up is a returnee in the form of Vilhelm Buchaus, who participated in this year’s competition with this entry “I’m Yours”. Unfortunately, he did not advance to the next stage of the competition by placing 4th in the semi-final he participated in.
Another Idol Sweden winner in the mix
The next artist in this round-up is Cimberly Wanyonyi, professionally known as ‘Cimberly’, who won Idol in 2023, against Saga Ludvigsson (who is also rumoured to participate in next year’s competition.) Aftonbladet reports that Cimberly did submit an entry for 2025, but was not selected. Now, the outlet reports she has been given a ‘Yes’ to participate for 2026.
More country artists in the mix
The final artist in this round-up is Swedish country artist Erika Jonsson, who had success in the TV show ‘Countrylandet Sverige’, with their song “Sången om Värmland” garnering over 10 million streams on Spotify. It was recently revealed that she was signed with ‘Freebird Entertainment‘, which has Mello alums such as Anna Bergendahl, Tennessee Tears and more on their roster.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).
In 2025, Sweden were represented by Finnish group KAJ, singing “Bara bada bastu”. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 321 points, finishing in 4th place. 126 points were received by the juries, while the trio received 195 points by televoters.
