As preparations continue for Eurovision’s 70th edition in Vienna, Austrian broadcaster ORF is set to reveal the official stage design for Eurovision Song Contest 2026 next week.
A new stage vision for Vienna 2026
According to Kleine Zeitung, the stage concept will be presented on 16 December, offering the first visual glimpse of how the Wiener Stadthalle will be transformed for next year’s Contest.
The stage has once again been designed by Florian Wieder, one of Eurovision’s most renowned creative figures, who also led the stage design for Eurovision 2015 in Vienna and more recently for Basel 2025.
Insiders speaking to Kleine Zeitung say the new concept will look noticeably different from what we saw in Basel, but it’s meant to be just as bold and memorable. The design reportedly takes inspiration from Austria’s location in the heart of Europe and its long history as a meeting point of different cultures, a fitting theme for the Contest’s 70th anniversary.
The Journey to Eurovision 2026
The journey to the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following JJ’s win in Basel, when Austria’s ORF accepted the rights to host the 70th edition of the contest. The bidding process started in June, with interested cities having until July 4 to submit their bid book. Innsbruck and Vienna were shortlisted, with the latter winning the right to host next year’s contest.
As for the organisation of the competition, the ‘core team‘ was revealed in June 2025, with further details about next year’s competition to be revealed in due course. The shows will take place on May 12th, 14th and 16th.
