Ahead of his participation in Eesti Laul 2026, Estonia’s selection for Eurovision 2026, Molly was able to speak with Robert Linna. He is aiming to go to Vienna with his song “Metsik roos”.

In the interview, Molly and Robert discuss his decision to enter Eesti Laul and what inspired the creation of “Metsik roos”. We discuss his appearance in Eesti Laul 2021 and how performing with his father has inspired his performance this time around. We talk about his favourite Estonian delicacies and what his favourite song is from Eesti Laul 2026.
Who is Robert?
Robert Linna is an Estonian songwriter and performer that has performed in bands such as Elephants From Neptune, KuradiSaar and Lexsoul Dancemachine. He has released ten studio albums. Regarding his history in Eesti Laul he performed with his father in Eesti Laul 2021 with “Ma Olen Siin” which ended up coming 11th. He is also the son of Ivo Inna who represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 1996 alongside Maarja-Liis Ilus.
Estonia’s Eurovision journey
Estonia has appeared at almost every Eurovision since their debut in 1994. They have won the contest once with Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL in 2001, singing Everybody. Other notable Estonian entrants include 3rd placer Sahlene with Runaway in 2002 and Ines with Once In A Lifetime in 2000, who placed 4th. More recently, their highest-placing entries have been Urban Symphony with Rรคndajad in 2009 and Ott Lepland with Kuula in 2012, both of which finished in 6th place.
In 2025, Estonia elected to send Tommy Cash through Eesti Laul to the Contest with “Espresso Macchiato”. They successfully qualified for the final and finished in 3rd place with 356 points. Of these, 258 points came from the televote, while 98 came from the juries.
