🇩🇰 Eurovision 2026 Rehearsal One: Denmark keeps the magic as Søren Torpegaard Lund elevates “Før Vi Går Hjem”

Today, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2026 continue in Vienna. Countries rehearsing on Day 4 include Cyprus, Latvia, Denmark, Australia, Ukraine, Albania, Malta and Norway. The second to rehearse today is Denmark’s Søren.

What did we learn about Søren Torpegaard Lund’s staging?

Denmark brings its Melodi Grand Prix staging straight to Vienna, keeping the iconic “box” concept. The structure remains the centrepiece of the performance, creating that same sense of intensity that made it stand out in the national final.

Small upgrades make a difference. The lighting inside the box has been intensified, with red tones gradually building as the song progresses. Søren’s styling also evolves throughout the performance. He begins in a sleek look combining darker tones with a standout shirt, before shifting into a more stripped-back, performance-focused outfit as the song develops.

Photos from the first rehearsal should be up about 24 hours after it finishes. We’ll update this article when they’re out.

Who is Søren Torpegaard Lund?

Søren Torpegaard Lund is a 27-year-old singer and actor born in the Danish town of Gudme. He showed an interest in music and the arts at a young age, training in theatre, dance and music, before being accepted to the Danish Stage Arts School at the age of 17. After this, he has starred in several musical productions – including West Side Story and Kinky Boots. He has already dabbled in Eurovision, having competed in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2023, but failed to make the top 3.

Denmark’s Eurovision journey

Denmark first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1957 and notched up their first win in 1963 with Grethe and Jørgan Ingmann’s “Dansevise”. Denmark later earned two third-place finishes in 1988 and 1989 but was then relegated three times in 1994, 1996, and 1998. They finally achieved their second victory in 2000 with the Olsen Brothers’ “Fly on the Wings of Love”, and have missed the Grand Final eight times since the introduction of the semi-finals. A six-year qualification streak from 2008 culminated in its third win in 2013 with Emmelie de Forrest’s “Only Teardrops”.

Sissal represented Denmark in 2025 with “Hallucination”. She qualified for the final, breaking Denmark’s five-year non-qualification streak. She would eventually finish in 23rd place, earning 47 points. Of these 45 came from juries, while 2 came from the televote.
