The search for the Host City of Eurovision 2027 has commenced as Host Broadcaster, BNT opens up the bidding process for the home of the 71st edition of the competition, which will take place in Bulgaria.
Four interested to host Eurovision 2027
Yesterday (June 8), BNT held a working meeting with the mayors of the cities that are interested in submitting a bid to host Eurovision 2027, which saw the broadcaster outline the requirements that the Host City would need to satisfy in order to host next year’s competition.
It was revealed that four cities have expressed their interest in hosting Eurovision 2027, and they are:
- Burgas
- Plovdiv
- Sofia
- Varna
During the meeting, Milena Milotinova, the Director General of BNT expressed their gratitude for the Bulgarian government’s commitment when it was revealed that Bulgaria will host next year’s competition.
The host city plays a crucial role, but it also carries significant responsibility. Eurovision host cities are never alone, just as the host broadcaster is never alone. We have the full support of the European Broadcasting Union, Eurovision and the Bulgarian government.
According to the broadcaster, the Host City of Eurovision 2027 will be revealed by the end of July. Normally, the Host City is revealed in August. However, it was revealed that the decision will be expedited so the Host City will be able to launch public procurement processes in time.
The journey to Eurovision 2027
The journey to the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following DARAโs win in Vienna, when Bulgariaโs BNT accepted the rights to host the 71st edition of the contest. Four cities have expressed their interest in hosting Eurovision 2027. They are Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia, and Varna.
As for the organisation of the competition, the Bulgarian government stepped in to create an organising committee, which was revealed at the end of May 2026, with further details about next yearโs competition to be revealed in due course.
