A month after the conclusion of the Eurovision Song Contest, most fans are now looking into the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Particularly, who will be present for the 19th edition of the competition, Unfortunately, one country that would not be present for this year’s competition is Latvia; who confirmed to Eurofestivales that they will not be participating in this year’s competition.
Latvia’s non-participation would see them miss out on the competition, for the tenth time. Latvia has not participated in the competition since 2011, when the competition took place in Yerevan.
What we currently know about the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest
After winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2020, it wasn’t long until it was revealed that the winning host nation; France, will be hosting the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. In May 2021, it was revealed that Paris will be hosting this year’s competition in La Seine Musicale on December 19.

- Germany
- Ireland
- The Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Russia
Latvia’s Junior Eurovision Journey
Latvia was among the participants at the inaugural edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003, where Dzintars Čīča represented them with the song “Tu esi vasarā”, and placed 9th. They participated until 2005 when they took a four-year break and returned in 2010. The Baltic nation’s last participation was in 2011, with Amanda Bašmakova and the song “Moondog” which placed 13th.
