Spain’s Junior Eurovision Journey

In 2003, Spain was one of the countries to participate in the inaugural edition of the competition with Sergio and the song “Desde el cielo”, and placed 2nd with 125 points. The year after, Spain managed to win the competition with María Isabel and the song “Antes muerta que sencilla”. The nation participated for two more years and took a 12-year break, where it returned in 2019, with Melani Garcia and her entry “Marte” which placed 3rd.

Spain’s recent attempt in the competition saw them internally select Soleá and the song “Palante”, which saw them finish 3rd once again, where they managed to score 133 points from the jury and the online vote.

  1. Well, the info of ESCPlus is not completely right. During Benidorm’s press conference last month, RTVE confirmed that this year they will still make an internal selection. What they said about september is that it will be the month when they will announce who is going to represent our country, and give more information about the selection and production of the song. Probably the song won’t be released until October, just like last year. On behalf of the internal selection, it is rumoured that they will choose a kid from The Voice Kids Spain (which is aired on the private channel Antena 3,and since it was filmed between 2019 and 2020, few kids meet the age requirement). The most possible option is that they will choose 13 y.o. boy Levi Diaz, the former winner of this year’s season. Other options include 9 y.o. Jesús del Río, 11 y.o. Jesús Montero, 13 y.o. Marta Fernández, 9 y.o. Nazaret Moreno, or 10 y.o. Daniel García (this last one from The Voice Kids 2019). It seems that we will be sending a boy (there are not much girls to choose from).
