With Eurovision New Year, broadcasters are gearing up and preparing to release information about their national selections. One country which is gearing up for their selection is the Czech Republic, as they confirm on social media that submissions for ESCZ 2022 will commence on September 17.
The guidelines are as follows:
- Artists are able to submit more than one song.
- The submitted entries, may not be published or publicly presented in any form before 01.09.2021
- The lead voicalist of the submissions must hold Czech citizenship (in the case of a duet, at least one of the main vocalists must meet this condition).
Czech Republic’s participation at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest is yet to be confirmed
Despite the announcement, of the opening of submissions, Czech Television has mentioned that it reserves the right to cancel the competition, should the Czech Republic not participate in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. The fate of the Czech Republic’s Eurovision 2022 participation will be revealed at a later date.
Czech Republic’s Eurovision Journey
Debuting in 2007, Czech Republic first participated with Kabát and the song “Malá dáma”, which did not advance from the Semi-Final. Since then, Czech Republic has participated 9 times and has qualified for the Grand Final 3 times.
In their recent Eurovision participation, Czech Republic internally selected Benny Cristo (who was due to represent them at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest), where he participated with the song “omaga”. During their participation, Czech Republic managed to place 15th in the Semi-Final.
