🇩🇪 Ann Sophie competes in the Semi Final of The Voice of Germany

Ann Sophie Dürmeyer, who represented Germany at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, last night competed in the Semi Final of The Voice Of Germany. Following successful performances in the auditions, Battle Round, Sing Off, and Quarter Final, it now was time to go head-to-head with her teammate Sebastian Krenz. She performed a stunning and emotional rendition of Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” but lost out in the televote to Krenz’s version of “Shallow.”

“Every note you sang made me happy”

Ann Sophie first took the stage with the other semi-finalists. They all teamed up to perform Coldplay’s “My Universe” before the semi-final proper started. Ann Sophie was the second performer of the night, taking to the stage directly after her team mate, and direct competition, Sebastian Krenz. Her coach Johannes Oerding praised Ann Sophie extensively. He noted that she had truly proven herself to be more than her poor Eurovision result, and that she is an amazing singer and performer.

Losing out head-to-head

Ann Sophie then went on to await the result of the televote. She went up directly against her team mate Sebastian Krenz. Sebastian has proven to be a fan favorite so far, having also won the televote in the Quarter-Final. In the end, Sebastian won the televote 62.7% to Ann Sophie’s 32.8%. Although this means that Ann Sophie has been eliminated, she can be more than proud of her incredible run on the show. The final will air December 19 on Sat. 1, and can also be watched via the official website.
