Following a successful audition and exciting Battle Round in The Voice of Germany, 2015 Eurovision contestant Ann Sophie took part in the Sing-Off round. Her cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” earned her second place in the public vote, leading her to the quarter-finals.

“I want you to notice”

Ann Sophie, who represented Germany with the song “Black Smoke” at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, was the last performer of the night. In a live broadcast, she was the last member of Johannes Oerding’s team to take the stage. She first took the stage with the rest of Johannes’ team, singing his 2017 song “Kreise.”

Before even taking the stage, Ann Sophie took second place in the public vote. With the top two in the televote making it through automatically, it looked to be a promising yet tense night for Ann Sophie. Her performance of Radiohead’s “Creep” was praised by all the judges. She gained another 5% of the public vote following her performance. Sebastian Krenz held on to first with 31.9% of the vote, with Ann Sophie finishing a strong second at 22.1%. This means that Ann Sophie has made it through the Sing-Off and to the quarter-finals of the Voice of Germany.

Coach Johannes Oerding selected Zeynep Avci as the third member of his team to make it to the Finals. Gugu Zulu, Kati Lamberts (both public vote), and Jennifer Williams (coach’s choice) were the members of Nico Santos’ team that made it through. Lena Belgart and Linda Elsener, both part of Johannes’ team, were selected to compete for a spot in the quarter-finals through the Comeback Stage. The quarter-finals of The Voice of Germany will air December 5 on Sat 1. Episodes can also be watched via the official Voice of Germany website.

Ann Sophie’s Eurovision Journey

Ann Sophie is best known to most people for representing Germany in 2015. After an eventful national final; the winner, Andreas Kรผmmert, withdrew, with second-placed Ann Sophie was selected to go to Eurovision. During her participation in Vienna, Ann Sophie ended up in 27th place in the final.
