It’s the end of the second day of rehearsals for Junior Eurovision at La Seine Musicale in Paris! We have now seen snapshots of the performances of all nineteen the competing acts; nine yesterday and ten today! Here’s our recap of what we’ve seen today!
(It goes without saying that the vocal performances for every single one have been amazing, so we’ll be telling you more about what to expect from the staging and performance!)
🇦🇿 Sona Azizova – One Of Those Days
Sona’s performance highlights her voice, with simple staging and the beautiful white dress from the music video. The graphics and lighting are simple, with a blue theme.
Sona will represent Azerbaijan in the 14th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇧🇬 Denislava and Martin – Voice of Love
Denislava and Martin bring a soft, simple, warm white staging, with a tent at its centre. Both are dressed in white, and behind them are floating lanterns in the backdrop, as well as draped pieces of fabric on stage behind them.
Denislava and Martin will represent Bulgaria in the 6th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇦🇱 Anna Gjebrea – Stand By You
Anna’s staging is graphic and energetic – there’s monochrome cartoons in the background, and Anna and her four backing dancers are dressed predominantly in white. There are upturned tables at the behind them with Stand By You written on them in graffiti, and regular desks and chairs towards the back of the stage. We also see the dancers knock over a lot of boxes during the preview!
Anna will represent Albania in the 11th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇺🇦 Olena Usenko – Vazhil
Olena also commands the stage alone, dressed in black and red, with black and white spotlights twirling around her on the floor of the stage. We also see an explosion behind her during the preview, adding a burst of colour to the performance.
Olena will represent Ukraine in the 12th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇲🇰 Dajte Muzika – Green Forces
Dajte Muzika’s song about needing to save the environment doesn’t skimp on its message in the staging, as scenes of environmental destruction (including those shown in the music video) play behind them as they perform. The four singers wear neutral outfits, with the two female performers taking a lead on the choreography (they wear headset microphones, while the two male performers use hand-held ones). The performance is energetic, but with a dark, urgent undertone.
Dajte Muzika will represent North Macedonia in the 18th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇰🇿 Alinur Khamzin & Beknur Zhanibekuly – Ертегі әлемі (Fairy World)
Alinur and Beknur draw on the fairytale inspiration for their staging, with the two dressed as knights in silver and purple armour. Behind them are other-worldly graphics in blue, purple, pink and green, showing an under-the-sea scene.
Alinur and Beknur will represent Kazakhstan in the 10th position in the running order on Sunday
🇷🇸 Jovana and Dunja – Oči Deteta
Jovana and Dunja embrace their time in France with black berets, topping off their pink and blue outfits. The stage features a giant picture frame, which they move around, and graphics feature green forest with red mushrooms and some magical, fairytale elements.
Jovana and Dunja will represent Serbia in the 17th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇦🇲 Maléna – Qami Qami
Maléna also embraces the blue, purple and pink staging, along with the pyro! She and her backing dancers wear metallic silver outfits which reflect the changing colours of the staging, as a giant pink moon turns on the background behind her.
Maléna will represent Armenia in the 9th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇷🇺 Tanya Mezhentseva – Mon Ami
Tanya also brings the magic from her music video to the Junior Eurovision stage – she cycles, she dances, and she flies on a hoop above the stage! She is joined by four backing dancers – two boys in casual clothes, and two girls in tulle party dresses. Fireworks feature on the LEDs behind her.
Tanya will represent Russia in the 7th position in the running order on Sunday.
🇫🇷 Enzo – Tic Tac
Last to take to the stage was host nation France, who ended the first day of rehearsals with a bang and even more pyro! Enzo’s staging draws on the 1920s Charleston elements of Tic Tac, with five backing dancers in white suits and fringed dresses. Art deco-gold graphics appear on the LEDs behind him, and even more dancers are projected onto them, giving the appearance of a whole troupe backing him up.
Enzo will represent France in the 13th position in the running order on Sunday.
Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021
Junior Eurovision 2021 will take place in Paris, France following Valentina’s victory in JESC 2020 with “J’imagine”. The contest will be held in La Seine Musicale on December 19th. 19 countries will be competing in the 19th edition of the competition. The running order for the show on Saturday was revealed yesterday.
