Today, NRK has revealed that Subwoolfer, who has pre-qualified for the Grand Final and was due to perform this week with their entry “Give That Wolf A Banana”; will be unable to do so this week, as they tested positive for COVID-19.

NorthKid to perform on the third semi-final instead
Despite testing positive for COVID-19, NRK has confirmed that the duo will be performing on the fourth semi-final next week. This is not the first instance that this issue has occurred, as one of the hosts, Annika Momrak missed the second semi-final of the competition due to COVID.
NRK has confirmed that NorthKid who has pre-qualified with the song “Someone” will instead be performing in this week’s show. NorthKid’s vocalist Bilal Saab mentions that despite having less time to prepare, the show must go on.
It came on very abruptly. There is quite a lot to be done in relation to the stage show, and not least rehearsal of the song which we now have one week less on – but as they say: “the show must go on”
Who is competing this week?
This week is the second Semi-Final of MGP. Four acts will compete for a place in the final due to take place on February 19th, 2022. One of the five automatic qualifiers will also perform in this week’s show. The following four songs will compete this week
- Mari Bølla – Your Loss
- Oda Gondrosen – Hammer Of Thor
- Sturla – Skår i hjertet (Shards in the Heart)
- VILDE – Titans

Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest
The Scandinavian nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, with Nora Brockstedt and the song “Voi Voi”, which placed 4th. Since their debut, they have participated 59 times, and made the grand final in 56 of these. In addition, Norway has won the competition three times (1985, 1995, and 2009).
Norway’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by TIX with the song “Fallen Angel”. During their participation, Norway placed 18th in the grand final, receiving 75 points from the jury and televoters.
