After his successful participation at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, the UK’s Eurovision 2022 representative Sam Ryder entered the UK’s Official Charts. After an intense battle with “Space Man” and Harry Style’s “As It Was” his Eurovision entry managed to come in 2nd. Sam’s charting on the UK charts makes “Space Man” the highest-charting Eurovision song this Millenium.

Everything’s coming up Sam after Eurovision

After his participation at the Eurovision Song Contest, Sam has already announced a European Tour, which will take place in October/November. In addition to this, Sam will also be performing two shows in London on November 23/24. Initially, just one show; Sam had to add another show due to popular demand.

In addition to his shows in UK and Europe; Sam will also have another huge gig, as he has been added to the ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ on June 4, which will take place during the Jubilee Weekend.

Sam Ryder is no newcomer to the music scene. However, he experienced his greatest rise to fame during the first Covid lockdown. In 2020, Sam was the most viewed UK artist on the social media platform TikTok. To date, he has amassed over 16 million followers on the platform. His latest release prior to his UK Eurovision entry was β€œMore.”

The United Kingdom’s Eurovision journey

Despite a recent slump in results, the UK is historically one of the most successful countries at the Eurovision Song Contest. Debuting at the second edition of the contest in 1957, the United Kingdom has won the competition on five separate occasions. The most recent win for the UK was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves singing β€œLove Shine A Light.” The UK also holds the record for the number of second-place finishes – currently 16.

In 2022, Sam Ryder represented the UK with his song β€œSpace Man”, which saw him win the Jury Vote and coming 2nd Overall, which is the UK’s best result since placing in the 21st century since placing 3rd in 2002.
