It has been just over a month since Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin Italy. Today the Live-On-Tape performances that were recorded in the event an artist could not perform in Turin have continued to be released. The next performance that was released was Intelligent Music Project’s performance of their song “Intention”.
About Intelligent Music Project
The rock supergroup has gone through multiple transformations in its lineup. It currently consists of Ronny Romero, Bisser Ivanov, Slavin Slavchev, Ivo Stefanov, Dimiter Sirakov and Stoyan Yankoulov. The band originally formed in 2012, and since then has released six studio albums alongside more recent singles releases.
Eurovision fans will be familiar with Stoyan, who has represented Bulgaria twice – in 2007, with “Voda (Water)” which placed 5th, and in 2013 with “Samo Shampioni” which placed 12th in the semi-final. At the time it was Bulgaria’s best ever result at Eurovision.
What is a Live-On-Tape?
A Live-On Tape performance is essentially a backup performance. Last year they were used in the event that a delegation could not travel to Rotterdam. This proved to be the case for the Australian delegation in 2021, due to the strict travel restrictions in place in the country at the time. Iceland also had to use a backup performance, however instead of the one they recorded in Iceland they used rehearsal footage, recorded in Rotterdam. Iceland had to use a Live-On tape due to the fact several members of Daði & Gagnamagnið tested positive for Covid-19 during Eurovision 2021.
Watch the Other Live-On-Tape Performances
At the time of writing, you can now watch the Live-On-Tape performances for Ronela Hajati (Albania), Citi Zēni (Latvia),Monika Liu (Lithuania), LPS (Slovenia), Marius Bear (Switzerland), Vladana (Montenegro), and Ochman (Poland).
Bulgaria’s Eurovision Journey
Bulgaria are a country that really want to win the Eurovision Song Contest, especially since their return in 2016. Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2005 with the song ‘Lorraine’ sung by Kaffe, the song came 19th in the semi final scoring 49 points. Bulgaria’s best ever result came in 2017 with ‘Beautiful Mess’ by Kristian Kostov, the song placed 2nd in the Grand Final that year scoring 615 points. In 2022, Bulgaria was represented by the Intelligent Music Project in Turin, where they sang the song “Intention”, placing 16th in the Semi-Final with 29 points.
