More and more countries are revealing their Junior Eurovision 2022 plans. The next country to give a date for their national final is Ireland. It has been announced that their search for a Junior Eurovision entry will begin on September 18th, 2022. They will yet again be using Junior Eurovision Éire to find their singer for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 which will be held in the Armenian capital of Yerevan

It has been revealed that the search for Ireland’s Junior Eurovision 2022 representative will start on 18th September 2022 at 20:30 local time in Ireland. The show will be broadcasted on Ireland’s Irish-speaking channel TG4 – the broadcaster in charge of Ireland’s Junior Eurovision participation. Judges will include Niamh Nà ChróinÃn and Chris Greene who will be joined by some Irish Eurovision alumni such as Niamh Kavanagh, Brooke Scullion, and Linda Martin.
Ireland’s Junior Eurovision Journey
Ireland first participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2015. Débuting alongside Australia, Ireland was represented by Aimee Banks singing ” Réalta na Mara”. At the close of voting, Ireland finished in 12th place – receiving 36 points. Ireland has since participated a further six times. Their best placement came in 2016, when Zena Donnelly finished in tenth place with her song “BrÃce ar BhrÃce”.
In 2021, Maiú Levi Lawlor represented Ireland in Paris with his song “Saor (Disappear)”. Ireland’s most recent participation, he finished 18th in a field of 19, earning 44 points. Of these, 5 came from professional juries, whilst the remaining 39 were from the online vote.
