The names that are been rumoured to take part in Melodifestivalen 2023 continue to be reported by Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. Recently, it’s been reported that Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos, Axel Schylström, Laurell Barker are among those rumoured to take part.
Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos
The first artist in this round-up is Eva Rydberg & Ewa Roos who made their debut at Melodifestivalen 2021 with “Rena Rama Ding Dong”, which managed to make it to the Andra Chansen round of the competition. Their entry was so popular that the duo made a guest appearance at this year’s Melodifestivalen to perform a Remix of their entry consisting of different languages.
Axel Schylström
The next artist in this round-up is anothe returnee in the form of Axel Schylström who made their debut in the comeptition in 2017 with “När Ingen Ser”. Axel’s participation in the competition saw them made it to the Andra Chansen round of the competiton. In 2022, Axel was one of the songwriters of THEOZ’s entry “Som Du Vill” which placed 7th overall.
Laurell Barker
Rounding up this round-up is Laurell Barker, who now resides in Sweden could potentially making their debut in next year’s competiton. Laurell is no stranger to Eurovision and Melodifestivalen, having competed as a songwriter numerours times in both competition (as well as other National Finals). In Eurovision, Laurell’s msot successful entry was Luca Hänni’s “She Got Me” which placed 4th at Eurovision 2019. This year, Laurell was one of the songwriters for Faith Kakembo’s Melodifestivalen 2023 entry “Freedom” which placed 10th in the final.

As we have previously mentioned, Aftonbladet has reported that SVT is set to reveal the 28 competing artists on a digital press conference on November 29 & 30.

Melodirestivalen 2023 will be hosted by Farah Abadi & Jesper Rönndahl, with the shows for next year’s comeptition taking place as follows:
- Heat 1 – February 4 – Gothenburg – Scandinavium
- Heat 2 – February 11 – Linköping – Saab Arena
- Heat 3 – February 18 – Lidköping – Sparbanken Arena
- Heat 4 – February 25 – Malmö – Malmö Arena
- Second Chance – March 4 – Örnsköldsvik – Hägglunds Arena
- Final – March 11 – Stockholm – Friends Arena

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).
In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
