🇸🇮 Details of Slovenia’s song reveal Misija Liverpool confirmed

Slovenia’s national broadcaster RTV SLO has announced that Joker Out’s entry will premiere on Misija Liverpool on 4th February 2023. The special broadcast will show the band’s journey in recording their Eurovision song, as well as featuring performances from past Eurovision representatives.

What can we expect from Misija Liverpool?

The show will be hosted by Miša Molk, a journalist and presenter whose connections to Eurovision span back to the days of Yugoslavia’s participation! She has provided commentary on the contest, presented votes and is a member of the EBU’s reference group.

Joker Our recently travelled to Hamburg, where they recorded an English-language album, but have confirmed that their song for Eurovision will remain in Slovenian. Speaking about their entry, the band said:

“The Eurovision Song Contest has not been genre-defined or limited for a long time. We remain true to ourselves, regardless of where and when we perform,”

About Joker Out

Joker Out is one of the most popular bands in Slovenia, dominating the country’s music charts for several years. Their genres can range from indie pop rock – similar to that of the Arctic Monkeys – to experimental pop. The band is made up of five different members – Bojan, Kris, Kure, Nace and Jan. The band is also signed to record label Shagadelic Records.

RTV SLO announced that Joker Out would represent the country at a special presentation on Thursday (December 8th). The broadcaster said that changing the approach from the EMA national selection was an easy decision. In a statement, Head of Entertainment for RTV SLO Vanja Vardjan said it was time for a shake-up:

We decided to use a tried and tested form of national selection, namely the internal selection. We have chosen Joker Out, who, like Magnifico and the bands Siddharta and Big Foot Mama before them, bring good quality popular music to the Slovenian music scene to the delight of the broadest of audiences. We were looking for a good sound and popularity, and I’m convinced that we have found them.

Slovenia’s Eurovision journey

In 1993, Slovenia made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest. Their first artist was 1X Band with the song “Tih deževen dan”, which placed 22nd. Since their debut, they have participated 26 times (15 of which, where they qualified for the Grand Final.)

Slovenia’s recent Eurovision participation, saw them being represented by LPS. The band represented Slovenia with the song “Disko”. At the close of voting, LPS placed 18th in the first semi-final; receiving 15 points from the jury and televoters, finishing last in the semi-final.
