Ahead of Heat 3 of Melodifestivalen this weekend, Tim had the opportunity to speak with Laurell for an interview. She will be competing in this year at Melodifestivalen with their entry “Sober”

During their interview, Tim and Laurell talked about the creative process of “Sober”, and the staging for the contest, what it is like to work in the Swedish music industry, for the past few years, and much more.
About Laurell
Laurell, is a Canadian singer songwriter who is currently living in Malmö in Sweden. For Eurovision fans, Laurell is known for writing numerous entries in Eurovision National Finals and the Eurovision Song Contest. Outside of this, Laurell has written songs for numerous artists (including Claire Richards, TWICE and Kara), have featured as a vocalist for numerous artists.
Prior to her participation in Melodifestivalen, Laurell has released new solo material, one of these includes her song “Habit”, which has now accumulated over 50 million streams, and was one of the ten most played songs in Swedish Radio in 2022.
Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since its debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).
In 2022, Sweden was represented by Cornelia Jakobs, who won the 61st edition of the competition and competed with the song “Hold Me Closer”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 4th with 438 points from the jury and televoters.
