A multi-stage process:

SMRTV are undertaking multiple stages to select this year’s representative for San Marino! The competition works as follows:

  1. Online registration, where interested artists are able to register their interest and verify their eligibility to compete. Artists are able to submit a recording of themselves performing an original song or cover, be given an opinion by one of the UVPSM experts, and can then choose to enrol in the rest of the process.
  2. Academy and casting, which began in October 2022 and will continue until 27th January 2023. This stage invites all artists who have enrolled to San Marino’s Sala Polivalente to learn more about UVPSM and the music industry, and then audition in front of UVPSM’s casting experts.
  3. Semi-finals, where (about) 60 106 artists from the casting process will perform live for the UVPSM selection panel. It is possible for some established artists to skip the previous stages of the casting process and advance directly to the semi-finals. At this stage, artists should be able to perform their proposed, unreleased entry. There will also be a repechage round specifically for Sammarinese artists. The semi-finals will be broadcast with a delay on SMRTV.
  4. Grand final, which will consist of (about) 20 artists and will take place on 25th February 2023. A jury of five members will select the winning act who will represent San Marino at Eurovision 2023!

What else do we know about Una Voce Per San Marino 2023?

Una Voce Per San Marino returns for its second year as San Marino’s Eurovision selection. The semi-finals will take place on 18th, 19th and 20th February, and the grand final will be held on 25th February. The grand final will be held at the Teatro Nuovo in Dogana. Senhit, who represented the country in 2011, 2020 and 2021, will present the shows. She will host alongside Jonathan Kashanian. San Marino’s 2022 Eurovision representative Achille Lauro will also perform during the national final.

San Marino’s Eurovision Journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 12 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”.

Their recent participation saw them being represented by Italian superstar Achille Lauro, with the song “Stripper”. On May 12th, Achille performed in the second semi-final, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the Grand Final. Overall, San Marino placed 14th in the semi-final, receiving 50 points from the Jury and Televoters.
