📽️ Further information about Eurovision 2023 postcards revealed

With just less than a month to go until Eurovision 2023, the BBC has revealed further details about the postcards for this year’s competition, which will be played, when the production team set up the stage for the upcoming participant who will be performing on the Eurovision stage.

111 locations used for Eurovision 2023 postcards

The BBC has revealed that the postacrds for this year’s contest will feature locations from the UK, Ukraine, as well as the participant’s home country.

Speaking about this year’s postcards, Rachel Ashdown, BBC’s lead commissioner for Eurovision 2023 had the following to say.

As well as the UK, Ukraine and participating countries being United by Music, viewers will be surprised to see what else unites us too.

They are the perfect way to introduce each act to the combined 160 million people watching across the globe, and I can’t wait for audiences to see this year’s offering when they air in the Semi Finals and Grand Final.

The BBC has revealed that Windfall Films were comissioned, following a competitive tender. They are working in collaboration the Ukrainian film production company 23/32 films, who undertook aerial filming of aerial shots in Ukraine. For the Postcards from each participatinf country, local production crews were used where possible.

The music for the Eurovision 2023 postcards will be Dmytro Shurov, who was the music producer of Vidbir 2023, which was used to select Ukraine’s Eurovision 2023 representatives TVORCHI.

Speaking about working on the Eurovision postcards, Sasha Cherniavskyi, the Executive Producer for 23/32 Films had the following to say:

We are pleased to participate in this project and to show that shooting of every difficulty level is still possible in Ukraine. This year’s Eurovision, despite not happening in Ukraine due to Russian aggression, will have our country in its heart

What we know about Eurovision 2023

Although Ukraine won the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, due to the ongoing Russian invasion they are unable to host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. Instead, the United Kingdom stepped in, as 2022’s runner-up; Liverpool will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest on the 9th, 11th, and 13th of May 2023. The contest will take place at the M&S Arena, with 37 countries taking partThe full production team behind the 2023 contest is listed here. The contest is a co-production between host broadcaster the BBC and last year’s winning broadcaster, Suspilne.

Alesha Dixon, Julia Sanina and Hannah Waddingham will host the semi-finals, with Graham Norton joining the presenting team for the grand final.
