The rehearsals for the 2023 contest in Liverpool at a little over a week away. In the run-up to coverage of the rehearsals, we are continuing to preview this year’s participants, and getting to know more about them, their discography, and their Eurovision journey so far. The next act we will be previewing is Poland’s Blanka.
Blanka’s Eurovision journey so far
Blanka was decided as Poland’s Eurovision representative via the selection show Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję!; where she faced of against nine other musicians. She ultimately won through coming first in the jury vote, and second with the televote; finishing with 22 points, out of a total possible 24.
During the pre-party season Blanka performed at Pre-Party ES in Madrid, Melfest WKND in Stockholm, and was set to perform at the London Eurovision Party; though unfortunately had to withdraw due to illness. While in Stockholm Tim got a chance to discuss her Eurovision experience so far.

Who is Blanka
Blanka (full name Blanka Stajkow) in a 23 year old model, turned singer-songwriter hailing from Szczecin in Poland. Her aspirations for a music career began while she was a teenager, and took her to the United States to hone her musical talents/
Her entry ‘Solo‘ is first ever single to chart; having been released late last year, and reached 4th in the Polish charts. The song was written by herself in collaboration with Marcin Górecki, Maciej Puchalski, Bartłomiej Rzeczycki, and Mikołaj Trybulec,
Poland’s Eurovision Journey
In 1994, Poland made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest, when Edyta Górniak represented them with the song “To nie ja!”, and placed 2nd (which is Poland’s best result at the contest to date). Since then, Poland has participated 24 times (15 of which was in the Grand Final). Poland’s recent Eurovision participation, saw them being represented by Ochman, who competed with “River”. Qualifying for the final, at the close of voting, he managed to place 12th with 151 points from the Jury and Televoters.
