Alessandra’s first rehearsal
The first to take to the Eurovision 2023 stage at Liverpool Arena in Liverpool was Norway’s Alessandra. She will be competing in this year’s copetition with her entry “Queen of Kings” following her win in the Norwegian selection ‘Melodi Grand Prix’.
Following Alessandra’s first rehearsal a clip of what went on was posted on the official TikTok account of the Eurovision Song Contest. According to the Eurovision 2023 liveblog, Alessandra’s performance mainly mirrors her Melodi Grand Prix 2023 performance, where she is wearing her cape, and is accompanied by four backing dancers, with giant glo sticks and the blue lighting.
What we thought of Norway’s first rehearsal
After Alessandra’s first rehearsal Tim gave his initial thoughts on the snippet that we saw.
Who is Alessandra?
Alessandra is the stage name of Alessandra Watle Mele, a 20 year-old Italian- Norweigan singer.
Alessandra was born to an Italian father and Norwegian mother in Pietra Ligure, Italy. She took part in a local talent show “VB Factor” when she was 12 years old, and hasn’t looked back since. Alessandra is also now studying music at LIMPI, following moving to Norway upon graduating high school in Italy.
In 2022 Alessandra took part in The Voice Norway, where she made it all the way to the live-shows, where she was coached by Norwegian producer and artist Espen Lind.
Now she is competing in Eurovision 2023 with her song “Queen of Kings” written by herself, Henning Olerud, Stanley Ferdinandez, and Linda Dale.
Norway’s Eurovision Journey
The Scandinavian nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, with Nora Brockstedt and the song “Voi Voi”, which placed 4th. Since their debut, they have participated 60 times, and made the grand final 57 of these. In addition, Norway has won the competition three times (1985, 1995, and 2009).
Norway’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Subwoolfer with the song “Give That Wolf a Banana”. During their participation, Norway placed 10th in the grand final, receiving 182 points from the jury and televoters.
