Today rehearsals for Junior Eurovision 2023 kicked off in Nice. Countries rehearsing on Day 1 include Ukraine, North Macedonia, Germany, Estonia, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Malta, Portugal, Georgia and Armenia The second country to rehearse today is North Macedonia’s Tamara Grujeska

What did we learn about Tamara’s staging?

Who is Tamara Grujeska?

Tamara is no stranger to competing in music competitions. Since the age of 5, Tamara from Gostivar, North Macedonia has been competing in music festivals both nationally and internationally. In 2022 Tamara won the “Angel Voice International Award” in Belgrade. Nationally Tamara has also won the Ezerski Biseri Festival. Tamara is a Eurovision fan who cites her favourite song as Loreen’s Tattoo, and also has released a cover version of 2019’s Eurovision winning song “Arcade”.

Tamara was selected internally by broadcaster Macedonian Radio-television (MRT) to represent her country in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2023. The song Tamara will sing at the contest is a ballad called “Kazi mi, kazi mi koj”.

North Macedonia’s Junior Eurovision Journey

North Macedonia debuted in Junior Eurovision in the first edition of the Contest in Copenhagen in 2003. Their first entry was “Ti ne me poznavaš”, performed by Marija and Viktorija. At the close of voting, the duo finished in 12th place, earning 19 points. Since then, North Macedonia has taken part in 17 editions of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. The only years which did not feature a North Macedonian artist were in 2012, 2014 and 2020; the last due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2022, North Macedonia was represented by Lara, Irina and Jovan, singing their song ” Životot E Pred Mene”. At the close of voting in Paris, the group finished in 14th position, receiving 54 points. Of these, 54 points came from online voting whilst the remaining 12 were given by the professional juries.
