Teya and Salena performing at Eurovision 2023

Five months after representing Austria at Eurovision 2023, Teya and Salena have announced they will be ending their collaboration as a duo. Both singers will now go on to solo careers in the wake of their time at the Contest.

Indefinite hiatus

After releasing “Who The Hell is Edgar?” to a wide audience thanks to Eurovision, both Teya and Salena saw a meteoric rise in their careers. To capitalise on this, the pair released a second song in the wake of the Contest titled “Bye Bye Bye”. The pair are now releasing one more song together, named “Ho Ho Ho” – as a Christmas track.

However, the two singers have now announced the track will be the final song the pair will release together. Speaking to The Euro Trip podcast, Teya and Salena confirmed they would pursuing solo careers following the release of the song. Teya admitted that the song’s release coincided with the natural stopping point for the duo. Salena, on the other hand, admitted that both had solo projects they wanted to move forward with.

Speaking on the split, Teya explained:

We talked and even with the distance now, it’s just harder to really sit down and make a big project together. And also, what we figured out is we were very comfortable doing this together because it’s just so easy and it’s so much fun. […] So I think we felt super comfortable in that bubble and I think it would be good for us both.

Neither Teya nor Salena ruled out potential collaborations in the future, but agreed they needed to focus on solo work for now. The full explanation for the split is available on The Euro Trip’s newest podcast episode out today.
