Australia will reveal its artist and song for Eurovision 2024 on Wednesday the 6th of March.

Australia in Eurovision 2024

Australia’s initial contract with the EBU that allowed them to participate in Eurovision expired in 2023. This meant that their participation at Eurovision 2024 was in question. However, the country was on the list of 37 participating countries for Malmö. This in effect confirmed their participation at Eurovision 2024. The chosen reveal date on Wednesday the 6th of March returns to the similar pattern used by SBS to reveal Guy Sebastian, Dami Im and Isaiah. They were all announced in the first week of March. However, this marks a change from Voyager’s announcement last year, as they were revealed as Australia’s entrants for Eurovision 2023 on the 21st of February last year. Currently, it is unclear how long the country will continue to be able to participate in Eurovision beyond 2024.

Australia’s Eurovision History

The most recent country to debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, Australia debuted in 2015. Guy Sebastian represented the land down under with his entry “Tonight Again” in Vienna, where they managed to place 5th. Since their debut, they have participated in every single year of the competition.

In 2023, Voyager were internally selected to represent Australia with their entry “Promise”. Performing in the second semi-final, Australia finished first in the semi-final, qualifying for the Grand Final. The band eventually finished in 9th place, receiving 151 points – 21 from the televote and 130 from the juries.
