Following their win at Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix there was some uncertainty about whether Gåte would represent Norway at Eurovision. It has now been confirmed by NRK that Gåte will indeed represent Norway at Eurovision in Malmö.

Gåte confirm Eurovision 2024 participation

Due to Israel‘s participation in this year’s contest, the members of Gåte said they needed time to reflect on whether they wanted to partake in this year’s contest. Singer Gunnhild Sundli however has now confirmed they will take part by saying the following to broadcaster NRK:

“…now we are ready to say that we choose to participate”

Gåte and NRK want to use Eurovision as a platform to speak about the ongoing issues in regard to Palestine-Israel. NRK’s Stig Karlen has also confirmed that NRK will be speaking with both the EBU and Swedish broadcaster NRK about the event’s security.

Of course we want to talk about the special year that is now, both in relation to the war between Israel and Gaza and security during the competition.

NRK will follow up on security and ask a number of questions about this to both EBU and SVT.
