What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from the Final of Pesma Za Evroviziju 2024?
Jazzi (“Novo Bolje”): At first I wasn’t sure if this was as high impact as “In corpore sano” and while I have decided it isn’t it is still great fun. The hook of this is catchy and memorable and this was staged so well in the semi-final. This is another great entry from Konstrakta and I would not mind seeing her return to Eurovision at all.
Kittens (“Najbolja”): I loved Zejna’s song last year so I was really pleased to see her back this year at PZE with another bassy high energy banger. I’d love to see more energy from the performance, but the song is so catchy and the dancers are doing so much work that I can forgive that. A dramatic delight!
Daniel (“Lik u ogledalu”): This Eurovision has a big powerful female ballad shaped hole, and I think Serbia and Pesma have a great chance of filling it. In what I think is a very exciting selection, this is one of quite a few “Eurovision ready” songs in my eyes. Zorja’s vocals are flawless and her staging is modern and exciting, Lik u Ogledalu has an epic quality to it certainly unlike anything we already have at this year’s contest, I could see it doing very well in Malmö if it is Serbia’s choice
Serbia’s Eurovision Journey
In 2007, Serbia made its debut as an independent country, having previously participated as part of Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro. There, they were represented by Marija Šerifović with “Molitva”, which managed to win the competition. Since their debut, Serbia has participated 15 times (12 of which, where they qualified for the Grand Final).
Luke Black represented Serbia at Eurovision 2023 in Liverpool with his song “Samo mi se spava”. At this year’s competition, Serbia managed to qualify for the Grand Final, where they placed 24th. At the close of voting, he received 30 points – 14 coming from the jury and 16 from the televote.
