In an interview with participating broadcaster ÖRF, Austrians representative at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest Kaleen revealed a few snippets about the staging she has planned for Malmö.

Music Video elements to be brought on stage

In her interview she revealed that she is opting to keep some of the ‘sexy’ nature that is present in the music video, but will be toned down slightly for the live stage. The music video, which can be found below, features Kaleen dancing in a warehouse with a serious of scantily clad men. The staging for Eurovision will be adapted and the she states the four dancers who will join her will be dressed more heavily. There will be no others on stage apart from her and the four dancers, meaning any backing vocals will be pre-recorded and no live vocalists will appear on stage beside her.

Who is Kaleen?

Kaleen was announced as Austria’s Eurovision representative back in January; real name Marie-Sophie Kreissl, she is 29 and an experienced dancer. She’s also a Eurovision veteran, having worked as a stand-in, backup dancer, and creative director on and off in contests as far back as 2018.

Her entry, “We Will Rave,” was written by Eurovision hitmaker Jimmy Joker Thörnfeldt as part of a team of Swedish songwriters. Prior to its release, it was described as “dance-pop” and “techno-inspired”.

Austria’s Eurovision Journey

In 1957, Austria made their debut into the Eurovision Song Contest, where Bob Martin represented the landlocked nation with the song “Wohin, kleines Pony?”. At the close of voting, it placed 10th overall. Since their debut, Austria has participated 55 times (being in the final 48 times), and have won the competition twice: in 1966 and in 2014.

For 2023, ORF interally selected Teya and Salena to represent Austria with their song “Who the Hell is Edgar?”. In Liverpool, the duo qualified for the final, where they went on to finish in 15th place with 120 points. Of these, 16 points came from the televote and another 104 came from the juries.
