Spanish broadcaster RTVE and the EBU has today announced that Madrid will host Junior Eurovision 2024 on November 16th. The contest will take place at Caja Magica which can hold up to 12,000 spectators.
Junior Eurovision to take place on Saturday for the first time since 2015
The 2024 edition of the contest, sees its return to Saturday, after holding the competition on Sunday for the past few years.
Ana María Bordas, head of the Spanish delegation at Eurovision mentioned that RTVE is already working on the show that is designed for a family audience:
We want the young artists and all the delegations to enjoy a fantastic week. in Madrid. Spain is a welcoming country and we wait for you with open arms. Let’s have fun and enjoy the music. Welcome to Spain!
The story of Junior Eurovision 2024 so far…
France won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on home soil with Zoé Clauzure and “Coeur”. However, when it came to hosting the contest, French broadcaster France Televisions was offered first refusal, as per the rules of the contest.
“The rules of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest do not require the winning broadcaster to host the following year, as in the Eurovision Song Contest, but they do receive first refusal should they wish to stage the next year’s competition.”
