Cypriot broadcaster CyBC have confirmed to Eurovision news outlet ESC Today, that Cyprus will be present at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland.
Internal selection to select Cyprus’ Eurovision 2025 representative
CyBC has confirmed that Silia‘s successor will be internally selected. Since 2016 CyBC has opted to internally select, with the process proving to be extremely successful for the country. The island nation has only failed to make the final once since then (in 2022), and gave the country its best position yet with Eleni Foureira in 2018. At present there has been no indication who the artist that will go to Switzerland next year is, or when we will find that out.
Cyprus’ Eurovision Journey
The Mediterranean nation made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981, where Island participated with the song “Monika” and place 6th. Since then, Cyprus has participated 40 times (33 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final).
In 2024, CyBC internally selected Silia Kapsis to represent them in Malmö with the song “Liar”. During her participation in Malmö, Silia qualified for the final, before going on to finish in 15th place with a total of 78 points. The juries gave Cyprus 34 points, whilst the televote awarded Silia 44 points.
