Earlier today, Spanish broadcaster RTVE revealed that 9-year-old Chloe DelaRosa will represent Spain at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
DelaRosa to represent Spain in Madrid
After teasing the reveal last week, RTVE confirmed that 9-year-old Chloe DelaRosa will represent her country in Madrid in November at Junior Eurovision. She will follow in the footsteps of Sandro Valero, who represented Spain last year in Nice with the song “Loviu” and eventually finished second. RTVE received 290 submissions, more than double the number from 2023. Details about DelaRosa’s song will be revealed at a later date.
Spain’s Junior Eurovision History
Spain has taken part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest a total of 89 times, with their first participation coming in the first edition of the Contest in 2003. In the initial Contest, Spain was represented by Sergio singing “Desde el cielo”. At the close of voting, Spain finished in second place, earning 125 points. Spain would go on to win the next edition of the show with María Isabel’s “Antes Muerte Que Sencilla”, finishing with 171 points.
Spain’s most recent participation was in 2023, when Sandra Valera represented the nation with her song “LOVIU” in Nice. At the close of voting, Spain finished 2nd in a field of 16 participants. Spain earned 201 points – 86 of which came from the online vote. The remaining 116 points were awarded by professional juries across Europe.
