🇸🇮 RTVSLO to decide on Eurovision 2025 participation in October

Raiven represented Slovenia at Eurovision 2024

Slovenian broadcaster RTVSLO confirmed that there will not be a decision on whether Slovenia will participate in Eurovision 2025 until October 2024.

RTVSLO’s actions

Following Eurovision 2024, the broadcaster released a statement asking the EBU to explain certain actions of theirs during the contest in Malmö. This included several points, including a request for specific voting data, a clarification on the reasoning for the Netherlands’ disqualification, the use of anti-booing technology and the possible influence of MorroccanOil, one of the event’s sponsors. In an email to Eurovoix, the broadcaster confirmed that they will not make a decision about their involvement in Eurovision 2025 until October 2024. No further details or timeline were provided. This comes after the EBU provided Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS with an extension to decide on Eurovision 2025 participation as well.

Slovenia in Eurovision

In 1993, Slovenia made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest with 1X Band and the song “Tih deževen dan”, which placed 22nd. Since their debut, they have participated 28 times – of which, 16 were where they qualified for the Grand Final.

Slovenia’s recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Raiven, who sang the song “Veronika”. Performing at the first semi-final, Raiven placed 9th, therefore qualifying for the final for the second consecutive time. At the final, Slovenia finished in 23rd place, receiving 27 points. Of these, 15 came from the jury and 12 from the televote.
