Throughout the summer, Ukraine’s broadcaster Suspilne has been hard at work selecting their Junior Eurovision 2024 representative, and now we are in the final stretch as they are set to select Anastasia Dymyd’s successor soon.
Date of selection and participants
Ukraine’s selection of their Junior Eurovision 2024 representative will take place on September 22. You can watch the selection on UA:PBC, Suspilne Kultura’s website, as well as the official Eurovision Ukraine Facebook and YouTube channels. The show will be hosted by Timur Miroshnychenko, Anna Tulyeva, and Anna Trincher (Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision 2015 representative).
As we mentioned earlier in the article, the selection for Ukraine’s representative has been taking place last month, and from the longlist of 15 participants, the six participants still in the running are as follows:
- Anastasiia Bielibova
- Anhelina Hlohus
- Artem Kotenko
- Illia Konovchenko (Ilko)
- Veronika Kohan
- Zlata Ivaniv
Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision journey
In 2006, Ukraine made their debut to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with Nazar Slyusarchuk and the song “Khlopchyk Rock ‘n’ Roll” (Хлопчик рок ‘н’ ролл), which placed 9th. Since their debut, the Eastern European nation has participated 17 times, and even won once in 2012 with Anastasiya Petryk and her song “Nebo” (Небо).
In 2022, Ukraine selected its representative through a national final, where Anastasia Dymyd won the right to represent the nation with “Kvitka”, which managed to place 5th receiving 128 points from the jury and online vote.
