Ahead of this week’s Benidorm Fest, Spanish broadcaster RTVE revealed the jury, intervals and running order for Benidorm Fest 2025.
Benidorm Fest 2025 Jury Composition
There will be eight members in the jury for Benidorm Fest 2025, which will form half of the final results. The jury will consist of four members from Spain and four international members. Roberto Santamaría, the director of Radio Nacional de España, will act as the jury’s spokesperson. Javier Llano, Jaime Acero and Claudia Orellana will join Santamaría as the national representatives on the jury.
The four non-Spanish members of the jury will be Oksana Skybinska, Ukraine’s head of delegation, Maja Tokic, executive producer of Croatia’s national selection, Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen, former heads of delegation in the Netherlands and Mariangela Borneo, director of international projects and festival for RAI.
Interval Acts
RTVE also revealed the artists who will perform in the intervals of each show. In the first semi-final, Spain’s 2015 representative Edurne will mark the tenth anniversary of her appearance at the contest. The first semi-final will also see a performance from Spanish indie pop band Ginebras.
Thursday’s second semi-final will see three guest performances. One will come from Ruth Lorenzo, who will also host the shows. There will be another performance from Chenoa, who has previous Eurovision experience as a backing vocalist for Rosa López in 2002. The final performance on Thursday will come from Isabel Aaiún, a pop/electronic and folk fusion artist.
Saturday’s final will see performances from reigning champion Nebulossa, Benidorm Fest 2022 alum Rigoberta Bandini as well as Amaral, who have frequented many music festivals across the country.
Semi-Finals Running Order
There will be eight artists who perform in each semi-final, with four advancing to the final. Kuve will open today’s semi-final with “Loca por ti” while Daniela Blasco will close with “Uh nana.” The first performance of the second semi-final will be from Mel Ömana with “I’m a queen.” Melody will close the show with “Esa diva.”
Spain’s Eurovision History
Spain debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961 with Conchita Bautista’s “Estando Contigo”. The country earned its first win in 1968 with Massiel’s “La La La”, and won again in 1969 with Salome’s “Vivo Cantando” in an infamous four-way tie. Although they have yet to win again, Spain earned several 2nd place finishes, most famously with Mocedades’ “Eres tu” in 1973 and Anabel Conde’s “Vuelve conmigo” in 1996.
In 2024, Spain selected Nebulossa. As part of the Big 5, Nebulossa did not need to qualify to the Grand Final from the semi-finals. At the close of voting, their song “ZORRA” finished 22nd, with a total of 30 points. Of these, 19 points came from the jury, whilst 11 came from the televote.
