🇸🇪 Nomi Tales: “Funniest thing is a monologue with the inner critic”

With the next semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2025 just around the corner, Tim had the opportunity to speak with Nomi Tales, who is participating with her entry “Funniest Thing”

Hi Nomi, I would like to start off by asking how are you doing today.

I’m good, I’m on my way to Gothenburg for heat 2 now!

We’ll start this interview off by getting to know you a bit more about yourself. What’s one thing about yourself that people don’t know?

I used to have moths and butterflies as pets. I’ve also been thinking about getting a little lizard. I love animals and have a horse, but that might be easy to understand haha.

How does it feel to be participating at Mello and potentially represent Sweden at Eurovision?

It feels so fun, I’m so curious about how everything works behind the cameras! I feel like I’m on an adventure quest.

The first question I will ask about is your entry Funniest Thing”, can you tell us in your own words, what the song is about, the process of creating your song and what message you would like to send with your entry?

Funniest thing is a monologue with the inner critic. It’s an inner conflict between the dark and light and winning over the inner critic. My message is believe in your own path, even if it seems impossible. You control your destiny ❤

How are the preparations going for your performance?

We had our last rehearsal in Stockholm yesterday and everyone are so talented. The team is amazing and everyone is 100% aligned on the vision and feel which to me feels like a reciept that my music realm I’ve been dreaming of creating was meant to be.

Can you give us any hints as to what we can expect from your performance?

Although we are on a big stage, as modern ir can be, my performance is an escape from all of that and I will invite you into my world.

You are one of the artists who are debuting in this year’s contest. How have you been finding your participation so far?

I’m beyond thankful, I’m so so thankful. It feels like my young self has said “I’m proud of you” for following my dreams and believing in them even if they seemed so far away.

We’re here because we love Eurovision, what is your go-to Eurovision song?

Keep on walking ❤️ it’s been my favorite and go to song for many years. I also like the winner song from last year, The code with Nemo. Amazing artist!

Before we go, I wanted to ask you; prior to Mello, you worked on music for Star Stable. Can I ask how did the collaboration come about, and which of the tracks you worked for is your favourite?

It was all a happy coincidence. I had written my song Fire and when I started working for Star Stable as a 3D animator, I talked with them about music and sent them my track Fire. Turned out they were working on a series called Mistfall, with a strong fire theme about a horse that had a mane made of flames. It was the perfect theme for the series and then we continued releasing songs. Fire is my favourite! I wrote it myself and the message in the lyrics really mirrors my inner conflict about dreaming but feeling doubt.

Nomi, my final question for you is, come Saturday, the viewers are watching your performance, what message would you like to send to them as you perform your entry.

We can all change the world a little bit, if we follow our hearts and do what we love. Be yourself ❤️ you are good enough
