🇩🇪 Eurovision 2026 Rehearsal One: Pyro, Prop, Choreo for Sarah Engels’ first rehearsal

Sarah Engels representing Germany at Vienna 2026

Yesterday, the rehearsals for Eurovision 2026 continue in Vienna. Countries rehearsing on Day 6 include Italy, Germany, France, United Kingdom, and Austria. The second Automatic Qualifier to rehearse was Germany’s Sarah Engels

What did we learn about Sarah Engel’s staging?

The info from the first rehearsal was provided by EBU via Reddit, with the description as follows:

Black, red and gold is the colour scheme for Germany at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest. Get that German flag represented, Sarah!

The stage of the Wiener Stadthalle ain’t big enough for a star of Sarah Engels’ status! As a result, she’s brought along a cube-like prop to give her the performance platform she deserves. And no one will be able to argue with that after they’ve seen Fire for the first time! Sarah starts the performance lying down on this cube, performing a piano-ballad version of her Eurovision song to the camera above. It doesn’t take the blazing banger long to ignite, however, with Sarah soon breaking into the song we all know and love.

Sarah Engels is dressed entirely in gold, in a bodysuit that represents the title of her song. The corset part has been designed to look like roaring flames, while sparkling rhinestones dotted elsewhere resemble golden embers bringing yet more heat to Sarah’s performance. During the performance, the singer is joined by four dancers throughout – also dressed in gold.

Our gal Sarah (aka Our Sarah Engal’) has requested that we keep some surprises in store for viewers. So we’re absolutely not going to mention the bit where Sarah [REDACTED] her [REDACTED] and proceeds to [REDACTED] while [REDACTED], all she’s [REDACTED]. Honestly, we need a lie down after that.

But we CAN tell you that it ends in a flaming display of pyro. It just had to, really, didn’t it?

Pictures from yesterday’s rehearsal will be released approximately 24 hours after the rehearsal. We will update this article once it has been released.

Germany’s Eurovision journey

Germany has been part of Eurovision since the beginning, debuting in 1956. Their debut entries were Walter Andreas Schwarz’s “Im Wartesaal zum großen Glück” and Freddy Quinn’s “So geht das jede Nacht”. Germany has appeared at every Eurovision except for 1996, which means they have been at more Contests than any other country. They have a long history of success in Eurovision, finishing in the top 3 an impressive 13 times. Germany has won the contest twice: Nicole won in 1982 with her song “Ein bißchen Frieden”, taking home 161 points. Their second win came in 2010, when Lena scored 246 points with her song “Satellite”.

Germany’s most recent Eurovision entry was Abor & Tynna with “Baller”. As Germany is part of the Big 5, they automatically qualified for the Grand Final. In the Final, the song received 151 points and finished in 15th place.
